For 20 years already the organizers of the Venus fair in Berlin gather a huge crowd of fans and adult business people. And it’s remarkable that even the show shrunk in size over the years, it’s still larger than the AVN Expo in Las Vegas. This years anniversary event was spread over four halls of the Messezentrum beim Funkturm, Berlins largest exhibition area. The offerings were quite diverse, from adult novelties to virtual reality.
Also for the 20th time, the Venus Awards were given away. This year hosted by Niels Ruf (a former TV show host) and Paula Rowe, a german porn actress. While the fair itself was surely larger than the counterpart in Las Vegas as mentioned above, the award show crown stays definitely in Vegas. It’s where the big shows are made, most likely also in January 2017.
Big congratulations to the makers of the Venus show, it’s quite a challenge sailing through 20 years of adult business with all its lows and heights.
XBIZ has decided to launch a webmaster event in Berlin, Germany’s capital city. It’s an interesting move since Berlin is also home of the Venus show. But it’s also an understandable move as Berlin hosts many tech companies including many from the adult industry.
It’s going to be a 4 day event, the event hotel is located just around the famous KitKat Club where open sexual activity is allowed. Starting 11th September 2016.
There is no doubt, the Venus Berlin is the largest porn expo on this planet. And proof again was this years 19th installment that took place at the end of October. Four halls packed with everything the adult industry has to offer. From webcam girls presenting themselves to all kinds of fetish gear to oils and lingerie and to a dildo manufacturer that creates his toys completely out of wood.
Sure, the porn industry as such was not that visible anymore. The classic porn industry has changed. Porn now happens on the net, cams, dating, tubes and member sites. It is obviously possible to make money in those fields as the many presences have shown again this year.
A classic is the Venus Award show, also for the 19th time a bunch of prizes were given away. The event was held in the Ellington Hotel and presented by former porn actress Mia Julia and Chris Hilton. While the AVN expo in Las Vegas definitely cannot compete anymore with the Venus Berlin, the AVN Award Show still is much more glamorous and spectacular than the Venus Awards. It was great though that Anikka Albrite and Mick Blue flew in from Los Angeles to pick up their award for Best Porn Couple.
German glamour model Micaela Schäfer was again this years “face” of the show. The whole exhibition was a huge success according to the organizers and indeed, looking at the wast amount of visitors walking through the halls this year, there is no way to doubt that. At one point they even had to stop letting people in because of the large queues.
Next year will be 20th anniversary of Venus, let’s see what celebration activities will take place…
